Betrayal, Envy and Pride…

I recently had lunch with a wise man of God. A pastor. I was in need of his wise words, and fellowship due to a recent event which included betrayal, envy, and pride. He was delighted to quickly meet with me. He has experienced and seen much in his life. In our 1.5 hour together, and many discussions, he reminded me of the story of Joseph, and what he endured. The jealousy, envy, to down right betrayal by his own biological brothers. Yet Joseph did not lose faith, nor did he lose heart. He was faithful TWENTY FOUR seven, and God not only used Joseph greatly, he blessed him tremendously.

Joseph was enthusiastic, optimistic and had aspirations, goals, A VISION, and dreams. He had many visions and dreams given by God, in his dreams, whom he also shared with people in which he trusted, as well as those whom inquired. Some betrayed him due to his dreams, his biological father’s favor and God’s favor, in which his biological brothers most certainly did. Yet, Joseph was triumphant later, and over additional adversities, and even saved God’s people from starvation. A lot there in this story to realize, understand, and apply.

Remember there are 6 things God hates, and the 7th is an abomination from Proverbs 6:16–19.

There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and
hands that shed innocent blood,
a
heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
a
false witness who breathes out lies,
and
one who sows discord among brothers.”

In addition, we need to realize that God keeps His promises, and He is not to be mocked, and neither are His people, especially to ones whom He gives a vision, assignments, appointments, and messages. There are many examples when others came against the Children of God, and how God handled it.

Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” — Galatians 6:6–10

Of all the ways I may have been wronged in my years on this earth, it is the betrayal from those I truly loved, trusted and poured into that have affected me the hardest. Add if they are a professed believer or Christian, has made it even that much harder for me to both endure and understand.

I think most of us can say that we have been betrayed in some way, or maybe some of us were the betrayers in our human flesh. Either way this is among what God hates, and He says vengeance is His. I strive to do my best, follow after Jesus, trying my best to do as I think He would, and almost everyone whom has done me wrong, while I kept the faith, God worked it all out.

Personally I would want to try to not have God’s vengeance upon me, and best follow as the bible instructs and Jesus taught, led, loved, served, and lived. And if I do slip, or do wrong unto another, make sure I do my best to resolve it, ask for forgiveness, make it right, learn, grow and improve.
