Maybe this present economic, civil, social, & political environment is a “Wake Up Call”?

You may not be a morning person and habitually smash the snooze button on your alarm clock each morning. You may also be a person who may often put themselves on auto pilot throughout the day with the mundane perspective of get up, go to work, watch TV, go to bed, repeat.

Maybe you are a person that has become numb to most things around you as you have seemed to slip into an apathetic state of mind. Maybe you’re a person that thinks and even says, “As long as it doesn’t affect me and my pocket book, I am okay.” or, “as long as I can do my thing, they can do their thing”. Maybe you’re a Christian and you believe as long as you go to church each Sunday and fill a church pew or seat, that things will improve by osmosis? Maybe you are a “Christian” that if you just hold your bible you will learn and apply what it says be miraculous transference without having to actually read it? Maybe your a Christian you believes Christian’s should not get involved in Politics, speaking to others about the gospel as it may be too offensive, or being a Missionary is for someone that doesn’t have a life or professional career?

Maybe you get up, unable to see your toes when you stand as they are blocked by rolls of body fat. Maybe you get extremely winded by going up just one fight of stairs, and passing ball with your children or grand children seems like running a 26 mile marathon? Maybe it feels like you just woke up to a nightmare, when your doctors says, “You’re obese, your cholesterol is off the charts, and your resting heart rate is out of control. If you do not make a change soon, you will become diabetic, as at a high risk for a heart attack “?

Personally I have had a few “Wake Up Calls”, some I have shared in greater detail in previous chapters, whether it was from a near death experience(s) as a child, or a Cancer scare at the age of 19. Whether it was from being a “Work-a-holic” that contributed to not only diminished health, but to a painful divorce. Whether it was a “Serve-a-holic” that didn’t know how to say no, and constantly poured himself into ministry and into others, but forget he needs to re-charge, and be poured into as well. Whether it was a near death car accident as a young father, or a near death motorcycle accident that placed me the hospital a month, as I seen and experienced my entire life collapse around me like a perfect storm. And yes, over weight, easily winded, as I desire to feel and be as I once was in my 20s and 30s to run, play, and wrestle with my young children.

Maybe this present circumstance, situation, or adversity is your WAKE UP CALL?, or maybe you need to Wake Up before it’s too late? Maybe it’s time for a WAKE UP CALL to take action!…

and to stop smashing the snooze button, stopping thinking that as long as it doesn’t affect you now, that it will not affect you greatly later, or your children (or grandchildren) drastically in the very near future. Maybe it’s time that, as a Christian, that you realize that you are to be proactively involved in what happens to your land, community, and those who do not have a voice. Maybe it’s time to say in words, actions and deeds, “enough is enough”. Maybe it’s time to stop thinking some one else is going to do it, some one else will take a stand, some one with more ability, talent, and resources will go, and say, “Lord, here am I, send me!” Maybe it’s time to stop consuming junk, and expecting to not feel like junk, or grow junk, all around you, and inside of you. Maybe it’s time to RISE UP, and RISE EARLY, take care of that temple of your human body God gifted you, and be the man or woman God intended you to be; courageous, strong, determined, and willing to make a change, and BE THE CHANGE…

With people of faith, with children of God, there are not coincidences, just appointments and assignments.

Arise! For this matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you; be courageous and act.” — Ezra 10:4
